I love Thanksgiving because it is a happy time of year to gather together as a family and enjoy some great food. My usual Thanksgiving includes going to my cousin’s house with my grandparents and extended family. Some of my favorite foods to eat at Thanksgiving are the stuffing, mac and cheese, rolls, ham, green beans, pie, and most importantly, Turkey! While these are examples of what my usual Thanksgiving is like, my “Perfect Thanksgiving” would be totally different from this. At my “Perfect Thanksgiving,” my cousins and extended family would not be there haha because they can be awkward and also consume at least 3/4ths of all the good food, leaving little for me. Therefore, I would enjoy eating Thanksgiving all by myself. Yes, this sounds very depressing and lonely but on the bright side, it would be a never-ending buffet to enjoy all by me, myself and I. The last, and maybe most miserable (to all of you) part of my Thanksgiving, would be not having a turkey. Yes I know this sounds ridiculous, because the turkey is the most important dish, and even though it tastes so good, I am on a quest to save the turkeys. I encourage whoever is reading this to leave out the turkey this year, to save many of these sacred birds. This is what my “Perfect Thanksgiving” dinner would be like and please remember to Save the Turkeys!
Thanksgiving is the best holiday, right? Right. But let me tell you why. One word, Food. Ah now you’re interested, aren’t you? Traditional Thanksgiving food includes roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, and of course, pumpkin pie. But if you add some nontraditional foods, the skies the limit. There can be any kind of chip and dip, and then of course there’s that one aunt that brings her “famous” casserole. Then there’s that other aunt that doesn’t want herself or her kids to eat anything because it’s not healthy. And don’t forget about the 40 cousins and the one grandma who sit there and micromanage every detail of preparing the food.
Oh and the pies! Cherry, apple, chocolate, pecan, blueberry, key lime, coconut, strawberry, cheesecake, rhubarb, sweet potato, blackberry, lemon meringue, cream, peach cobbler, four-layer delight, and so many others. You can thank your other crazy relative who likes to bring all the pies.
The weather completes a wonderful holiday. The usual crisp and cool weather makes Thanksgiving ten times better. Not only is it a time to be with family but it’s also a great time to be with friends.
“Every year after Thanksgiving all of our friends take the leftover food and we get together and have a Friendsgiving!” -Savannah Stark
See, how fun is that? Not to mention that you get to eat some of your friend’s weird relative’s food. So hold off on the Christmas music and decorations for now and celebrate Thanksgiving - a time of delicious food and weird relatives, which clearly makes it the BEST holiday!
What do you get when you give small, white pumpkins to a bunch of talented photo students? Pumpkins that become works of art, Festive Fall Pumpkins, sweet, emotional pumpkins, pumpkins with names, and pumpkins that become unique to every eye that saw and photographed them!
